The Drop Band is a collective of NYC-based touring and studio musicians led by guitarist Paul Mascott. They have attained individually a very high level of musicianship and formed the band as an outlet for creative/performing energy. The band attempts to explore the inner landscape of the mind and develop a unique and efficient communication of expanded mental states. The techniques and ideas are crafted into a popular song framework to achieve a clarity of focus and the largest possible listening audience. This is reminiscent of bands such as Pink Floyd and Spiritualized who experimented with the pop/rock genre as an outlet for creative ideas.
The Drop Band has been together since 1997 and continues to record and perform. They were the house band for the new theatre experience 'Drop' which ran for two months in NY's lower east side. They are finishing an acoustic album called 'The Rain Falls Now' as well as the music from 'Drop' and a collection of studio experiments entitled 'Strange Loops.'
