Fowl Records was co-founded by Jimmi Haha from Jimmie's Chicken Shack as a way to relaease his first two independent CDs.
Fowl Records began in 1994 as a way of Jimi Haha to promote and distribute self-released CD's by his band, Jimmie's Chicken Shack.
Pretty soon Jimi's friends, who were in bands in the Baltimore/DC area, approached him about putting out CD's on the Fowl label.
In 1996 Fowl incorporated and released An Udderly Fowl Release, which is a compilation featuring regional powerhouses like the Kelly Bell Band, All Mighty Senators, Mary Prankster, and an unreleased Jimmie's Chicken Shack song, "Bongjam."
The focus of Fowl is not a particular genre of music, but more like developing bands in the Mid-Atlantic through distribution, grass roots promotion and exposure through playing as many shows as possible. Since 1998 Fowl has sold over 100,000 CD's through its owns distribution network, and has partnered with many music organizations with the goal of insuring that artists make money for every record they sell. Fowl is currently expanding beyond the Baltimore/DC parameters to become the premier indie label on the East Coast
