Q: What is mailorder fulfillment?
A: Mailorder fulfillment is a process by which orders for CDs are processed and shipped to customers. Orders can be placed over the internet, by mail, or through a toll free 1-800 number.
Q: What is 800 (toll free) fulfillment?
A: You can give your fans a toll free number to call and order your CDs and merchandise. This number can be printed on your flyers, posters and posted in e-mails or on your website. Many people are still reluctant to use their credit card to purchase products on-line. We offer this feature at no additional cost.
Q: Will you distribute my CD?
A: We are currently seeking additional titles for the All Indie Catalog. We offer a number of distribution solutions catered to artists at all levels of development.
Q: What is "on-demand" distribution?
A: On-demand distribution is a solution that we will make available to independent artists. Under the traditional major distribution model, you would need to ship 5,000 CDs to get your product on shelves in retail stores or, you would need to do consignment deals with individual retailers. Using our method, your CDs will available through one-stops (Regional and National Distributors) to retail stores at the local level and to all of the major on-line retailers. This way, when you expect to sell CDs in a market we can supply you with a comprehensive list of retail stores in the area. You simply contact the local retailers and let them know that your CD is available through their regular vendors (the one-stops) and ask them to order a few pieces, (or we can provide this service for you). This way, the store knows that they are dealing with a reputable vendor, and you won't need to send out product and then chase after them for your consignment payments.
Q: What is a One-stop?
A: A one-stop can be a regional or national distributor of music. Essentially, a one-stop is a giant music warehouse that supplies stores directly with their product. They provide titles in their catalog from a variety of different labels and distributors. It is virtually impossible for an independent band without distribution to become included in the one-stops' catalogs.
Q: What if I don't have a CD?
A: If you want to manufacture a CD we can help you find a reputable and reliable manufacturer and we can offer you discounted rates and other promotions. If you do not want to manufacture a CD then we can help you to make your music available in a variety of ways such as digital downloads or custom CD compilations.
Q: Do I need a barcode for my CD?
A: Barcodes are symbols used to track inventory of music in record stores and in distributor and one-stop warehouses. Barcodes are also used to track music sales in America through Soundscan, a company that compiles data from sales of music nationwide. We will need to have all of our products barcoded. We will provide barcodes for each title in the All Indie Catalog.
Q: What if I already have my own barcode?
A: We will assign a unique barcode to each title that is sold in the All Indie Catalog. All titles sold through All Indie must have an All Indie barcode number. If you already have a barcode number from another source, it will be necessary to sticker your CDs with an All Indie barcode unique to your title. There is an additional charge of $50 for every 250 CD barcode stickers that we produce and apply.Ý You may use the barcode number we provide for CDs that you sell in other manners, or you may use your own number.
Q: Can you help me list my album in Soundscan?
A: Yes, we will submit the titles in the All Indie Gold and Platinum packages to Soundscan, so that retail sales of our music in the US can be reported and recorded.
Q: Will you sell my merchandise (T-shirts, Stickers, etc.)?
A: Yes, if your fans want to buy your merchandise, we can help sell it for you.
